Xbox 360: Ripping CD's only way to store music on HDD - CD Freaks.com
The console could recognize and play MP3 songs from USB devices like memory sticks and portable media players, but we couldn't transfer songs over to the HDD. [...] I know when I read about this annoying limitation in the article, I was reminded of the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey. Specifically, when the slightly too clever HAL 9000 computer disobeyed an order and said: "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that." Of course, this sent the crew into full gear, doing what had to be done with the HAL 9000 to regain control of the situation.

VSO Products to be banished... - CD Freaks.com Today, French citizens may no longer be able to make a safe backup of their purchased CDs, Movies, Games, etc. or use a software/hardware reader of their choice. Tomorrow, other countries may use this law as a model. [...] “In addition to killing off the right to private copying while keeping the fees associated to it, according to the DADVSI bill, the simple act of using software to read a DVD that is not authorized by the DVD editor could lead up to a 3-year jail sentence and a 300 000 Euros fine.”

LOL! Even music artists have to face the wrath of RIAA.
Will Sonys PS3 be the last nail in the HD-DVD coffin? - CD Freaks.com Consumers accustomed to the current generation DVD format will most likely begin the switch to Blu-ray or HD DVD in 2008
---
I hardly doubt on this '2008' number. The reason: Once you've seen some movies on HDTV you can spit on regular DVDs. I am already prepared in 2005 to spend my money on High Definition.
